We’re thrilled to invite you to the 2024 Buried Alive Film Festival at The Plaza Theatre. Grab your fellow thrill-seekers, mark your calendars, and stay tuned for more details as we unveil our terrifying lineup and other devilishly exciting surprises. You won’t want to miss this epic celebration of all things macabre, monstrous, alien, and macbre.
The Sinema Challenge Returns!
For those brave souls who crave a filmmaking challenge, the Buried Alive Sinema Challenge is back! This thrilling competition was developed as a fun and motivating filmmaking contest for local artists. We understand how challenging it can be to complete a film in just one weekend, especially a horror film, animation, or anything that requires special effects and technical love. So, this time, we’re giving you a generous THIRTEEN DAYS to create your masterpiece and begins September 15th, 2024, and entries are due September 28th at 11:59 pm.
The Catch
Of course, there’s a catch. To ensure that your film is created for our festival, we have random horror subgenres for you to draw from and an obscure subject to work with. No matter the outcome, your film will be screened as the opening film block of the 2024 annual Buried Alive Film Fest!
How Does it Work?
Applications must be submitted online by September 28th, 2024. Spaces are limited. The drawing will take place in the lobby of The Plaza on September 15th, 2024, between 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm.
–One member of each team must be present.
–Team leaders must be 18+ to enter.
–Each team will draw TWO horror subgenre cards from a bin (one can be returned, or genres can be combined).
–Then, draw ONE subject card from a bin (Cards Against Humanity subject cards).
–The subject card can be a person, place, or thing and must be noticeable in your film.
–Remember that your adherence to the genre and use of the subject are included in the judging criteria.
Feel free to hang out, share ideas with your team or other filmmakers, have a few drinks, and ask any questions you may have. You have 13 days to make this movie, starting on September 15th, 2024, and it’s due by 11:59 PM September 28th, 2024.
It Cost $54 to enter and everybody is screened who turns in a film. More on where to sign up later.
